What did I Learn... (Post 10)

I have learned much about other mythologies, and the gods and goddess that go along with those certain myths. He is what I learned:
Artemis- Zeus gave all the mountains to her at the age of 3 (to me that sounds a bit strange like seriously who would give that to a 3 year old child).
Apollo- He was born in Greece which somewhat surprised me.
Hermes- he made a lyre out of turtle and gave it to Apollo.
Set- Now this is surprising Set actually killed their brother.
Dionysus- His hometown is Thebes.
Freya- She has blue cats...
Isis- She tricks my Ra....
Balder- He is actually the god of light and peace which surprises me because with a name like that you think he would be dangerous.
Raven- He gave light to the world.
Demeter- She can invoke curses on anyone.
Horus- Okay this is strange this guy actually married his mother...
Loki- This is also very strange, Loki can change genders...
Odin- He had lost his eye because he gave his eye for wisdom.
Thor- Thor's hammer is made by dwarves.
Frigg- Her son is Boulder.
Guanyin- Goddess of mercy, because she sacrificed herself to her father.
Osiris- God of Underworld/ Vegetation, weird combination...

Hey Gods and Goddess, thanks for making me learn so much about yourself, this actually thought me a lot. Also don't forget about me...

Ra and Hathor Myth (Post 9)

...I am the sun-god, King of the gods and creator of all things, including mankind. Long ago, I lived on the earth and ruled a glorious kingdom. For a long while this kingdom thrived and men gave me the respect due , but I began to grow old, and they mocked me. I was very angry when I heard the blasphemy of mankind. I gathered the gods to hear my counsel.
. . . . .We met in secrecy, so that mankind would know nothing of this meeting. All the company of great gods, gathered around me as I told the story of mankind's insolence. I spoke to my father; "Nu, you are first born, oldest of the gods, I am your son, I seek your council. The men that I have created, speak evil of me. They anger me greatly, but I will not destroy them before you have spoken."
. . . . .At length Nu answered me, saying; "You are a great god, you are greater than I, You are the son who is mightier than his father. If you turn your eye upon the men who blaspheme you they shall perish from the earth." Doing what my father had suggested I turned my terrible gaze upon the men of the earth and they ran in disarray, hiding in the shadows where the eye could not harm them.
. . . . .Again the gods and I met and they said I should send my eye down among the men so they could not hide. So my eye, in the form of the goddess Hathor, she went obsequiously into the hiding places, striking fear in the hearts of men. Much of mankind was slain. Hathor returned to me after the first day as mighty as a lioness. Taking the form of Sekhmet, she declared, "I have been mighty among mankind. It is pleasing to me." But having tasted blood, Sekhmet would not be appeased.
. . . . . I now realized that Hathor-Sekhmet would destroy the human race completely. Angry as I was I wished to rule mankind, not see it destroyed. There was only one way to stop Hathor-Sekhmet, I had to trick her. I ordered my servants to brew seven thousand jars of beer and color it red using mandrakes and the blood of those who had been slain. In the morning I had my servants take the beer to the place where Hathor would viciously slaughter the remnant of mankind. My servants poured the beer mixture on the fields. And so, she came to this place where the beer flooded the fields. Looking down, her gaze was caught by her own reflection, and this pleased her. She drank deeply of the beer, became drunk, fell asleep, and abandoned her bloodthirsty quest, to end all of mankind. I saved mankind!

Resolution

In the resolution of Ra's creation of Hathor-Sekhmet, he in turn tricked the Lioness, to drink 7,000 thousand gallons of red dyed deer. Which therefore save the human race as we know it. This drunken rampage made Sekhmet abandon her quest for destroying humanity.

Summary of Climax (Post 7)

The climax of the story is when Ra sent Hathor down to Earth, and she came back as Sekhmet. Is was also slaughtering Ra's people.

Conflict

In the myth of Ra and Hathor, there is conflict. Ra is getting no respect from any of Earth's people. He doesn't like this and becomes very upset. His eye created Hathor who was sent down to Earth, but on the return Hathor became SekhemetWho was sent down to the world and killed. Ra didn't want this so he order 7,000 beers colored red and set them in a field she thought it was blood. She drank it and became drunk and could not kill any humans.

Character Development of Ra

My myth was fairly short, so the character really did not have any time to develop into a different person, or an enhanced person. Though Ra is a giving person each day he gives his subjects warmth from the sun and light from it. Together Ra does not change much he remains the same.

House of Ra (4)

Ra, he didn't live anywhere. In the day he lived as the sun.
Though at night he flowed down the Nile River, towards Anubis. Each night Ra struggled to pass through this challenge. But he lead the people who got stuck down there and showed them the way back. (Nile on Right)
